RESPONSE: Obama is not a patriot

Tom Hearn, in your letter in the My Turn column of Feb. 13 you called Pres. Obama “a patriot.” Does a patriot travel the world apologizing for America, bowing to the world, calling Americans arrogant? I’m sorry; I guess it’s just ranting from another “right-wing nut job,” as your liberal buddies have called Tea Party folks.

Tom, if you asked most people that attend Tea Party functions, probably 90 percent have never protested anything! Like my wife and I they are dismayed at the direction our country is going. Obviously you believe our “community organizer-in-chief” when he repeats the script on his teleprompter, so it’s probably futile to point out his false statements and his espousal of socialist leanings. Do you recall his campaigning on redistributing the wealth in our country?

I think what you are observing is the awakening of “real patriots,” whose concern is for our children and grandchildren and the kind of America that they will inherit. On the contrary, Tom, you are quickly becoming the minority in praise of Obama, but then as I said it’s probably futile.
