RESPONSE: Full perspective requires multiple sources

| February 25, 2010 5:26 AM

I would like to see a new feature in the Press where the editor answers questions and responds with the paper’s or staff’s position on popular topics.

A letter from Feb. 4 titled, “Opinion: Letter, Press biased.” If I remember it right, Mr. Pappas highlighted the current state of affairs in America from the eyes of the average American. Why then is Ms. Mahan, the author disgusted with the paper for spreading such dribble? Ms. Mahan may have only read one issue of the Press. The paper being owned by a mega millionaire and located where it is, it can only lean conservative.

People need to remember that whenever you have an editor who edits material, you have someone that screens material. That person is censoring material. Depending on what pressures are placed on the editor, the paper can lean right or left. You will never read a true unbiased paper. Your only hope is to read more sources and come to your own opinion.

Don’t let the media tell you how or what to think. Be smarter than what is printed in the paper.
