Norman B. Schelin, 80

Norman B. Schelin passed away Feb. 23, 2010, at the Loyalton in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after a long illness. Norman was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Forsyth, Mont., to Floyd and Eva (Wolfe) Schelin. He was the oldest of five siblings.

He lived many years in California and came to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1975. In October 1947 he married his childhood sweetheart Lorraine Lincoln, who passed away in August 1988. They had one daughter Lorena (Mike) Popick of Rialto, Calif., who survives him.

On April 3, 1993, he married Marianne Achey who survives him. He leaves an extended family of Pam (Gary) Pirkkala, Warren (Anne) Achey, and Marietta (DJ) Regnier; also step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. There are several aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. Survivors also include his sisters, Lenore Hudak and Sylvia (Tim) Wood and one brother Gilbert (Bernett) Schelin. He was preceded in death by both parents and one sister Margie Reed.

Norman worked as a carpenter and painter. He loved making items out of wood and had a profound love of music, especially playing the guitar and later the keyboard. Norman and his wife Marianne shared their music with the keyboard at Camlu, Life Care Center and Kootenai Medical Center until his health prevented them to continue. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Yates Funeral Home, Hayden, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
