| February 24, 2010 11:00 PM

RATHDRUM - Zach Lehman made a pair of free throws with seven seconds remaining to put the St. Maries Lumberjacks into the 3A District 1-2 championship game with a 61-60 win over the Kellogg Wildcats at Lakeland High on Wednesday night.

Seth Patzer had 14 points for St. Maries (11-7), which will face Priest River on Friday in the title game at 7:30 p.m.

"I think that's the best game Seth has had all season," St. Maries coach Jeff Mercer said. "He had a couple 3-point plays to get us back into the game late. He really did a heck of a job."

Nick Serrano had 18 points for Kellogg (12-10), which will face Bonners Ferry in a loser-out game Friday at 6 p.m. at Lakeland High.

"I think both teams played with a lot of effort tonight," Wallace coach Bruce Bailey said. "Lakeside came ready to play tonight. We had a strong third quarter - but we had too many turnovers in the fourth quarter and it came right down to the end of the game. Fortunately, we got the last basket and free throw."

Drews finished with 21 points and Zach St. Clair had 10 points and nine rebounds for Wallace, which travels to face the winner of the Troy-Lapwai game in St. Maries on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Lakeside (7-11) took a two-point lead with 18 seconds remaining, but the Miners (11-10) evened the score after Drews took the inbound pass the length of the floor to score and draw a foul in the final seconds.

Jamie Flemming had 20 points for Lakeside, which ends its season with the loss.
