Grace M. Ehrmantrout, 76

| February 24, 2010 1:51 PM

The most loving mother in the world left us to join our father at last in God’s open arms free of illness and pain. Grace was born March 13,1933, to Marvin and Francis Landenberg in Ohio.

Growing up on the family farm she loved to talk about milking cows and making butter. When her father fell ill, the family moved to Boston, Mass., and when her father could no longer work she dropped out of school to work. Her favorite job was working in a candy factory.

While in Boston she met her greatest love William Ehrmantrout Sr. They married and began their journey in life with the Navy, moving frequently and having five children along the way. While dad was a Chief out at sea mom was the Chief at home taking care of the children and making sure we all had good holidays, birthdays and plenty to eat.

When dad retired they settled in Idaho to be near his family. Grace then went to work at Pinewood Care Center. She finished her education and became a Certified Nurse Aid. Illness forced her retirement after more than 20 years. She then took on her last and greatest job as grandmother to more than 13 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren and two on the way.

Mom loved her family so much always there to help anyone or whip up something for you to eat. She loved to chat on the phone, garden in her yard and go camping. She will best be remembered for her great cooking and putting everyone first. She loved our father above all else and although we will miss her terribly we know she is happy at last.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves behind her daughters Cheryl Hamm (Steve) and Tammy Selander (Tim); her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
