Fernan Elementary to host fundraiser

COEUR d'ALENE - Fernan Elementary School will be transformed into Fernando's Ristorante on Thursday night when the school holds its annual spaghetti dinner and silent auction.

The public is invited to the event. Dinner starts at 5 p.m., with carnival games and silent auction to follow at 6 p.m. Meal prices are $3 per adult, $2 per child, or $10 for a family of up to five.

The event is well known for its auction of large, themed baskets. This year, 17 classrooms have sponsored baskets filled with donations from parents, staff and local businesses.

Themes include beach party, barbecue, spa experience, gardening, reading, outdoors, food, Legos, tools, spirits and scrapbooking. One of the sports baskets includes four tickets to a Mariners game.

Other auction items include a home-crafted bench, a four-night stay in a cabin, barbecue grill, a handmade lamp and inline skates.

Live entertainment will be provided by the 21st Street Singers, the "Metalling Kids" and other local groups.Proceeds benefit the school's programs and projects for students.
