Trojans, T-Wolves play for state berth
Post Falls (18-3) plays host to Lake City (12-9) tonight at 7 in the championship game of the 5A Region 1 boys basketball tournament.
The winner advances to state March 4-6 at the Idaho Center in Nampa.
The teams split their two meetings in 5A Inland Empire League play, each winning at home.
Also tonight at 7, Coeur d'Alene (14-7) plays host to Lewiston (10-10) in a loser-out game. That winner plays the Post Falls-Lake City loser on Friday for the region's second berth to state.
Lakeland (14-9) travels to Moscow (15-6) tonight at 7 for the 4A Region 1 championship. If Moscow wins, the Bears advance to state March 4-6 at Borah High in Boise. If Lakeland wins, a second title game would be played Thursday in Moscow to decide the state berth.
The 3A District 1-2 tournament tips off tonight at Lakeland High in Rathdrum with a pair of loser-out games - No. 3 seed Kellogg (11-9) vs. No. 6 Orofino at 6 p.m., and No. 4 Bonners Ferry (6-12) vs. No. 5 Timberlake (9-11) at 7:30.
Kellogg won a coin flip with Bonners Ferry for the No. 3 seed. Orofino, which did not play a full Intermountain League schedule, comes in as the last seed.
On Wednesday, No. 2 St. Maries (10-7) plays the Kellogg-Orofino winner at 6 p.m., and No. 1 Priest River (17-3) faces the Bonners-Timberlake winner.
The winner of Friday's 7:30 p.m. championship game, and Saturday's 5 p.m. second-place game, advance to state March 4-6 at Meridian High.
The Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy (13-9) plays Grangeville (5-15) tonight at 6:30 at Booth Hall in Lewiston in a loser-out game at the 2A District 1-2 tournament. The winner plays Kamiah (15-5) in the title game Thursday, needing to beat the Kubs on Thursday and Saturday to advance to state, which is March 4-6 at Capital High in Boise.
Clark Fork (0-18) travels to Mullan (6-11) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament. The winner plays at top-seeded Kootenai (11-9) on Friday at 6 in the championship game for a berth at state March 4-6 at Vallivue High in Caldwell.
Lakeside (7-10) travels to Wallace (10-10) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a 1A Division I District 1 playoff game. The winner plays the No. 3 team from District 2 on Saturday for a berth to state March 4-6 at Caldwell High.
