Cardinal men now one win from SWAC title

MEN'S BASKETBALL

TWIN FALLS - B.J. Sherry totaled 21 points, 17 rebounds, five blocked shots and two steals as North Idaho College knocked off Southern Idaho for the second day in a row, 74-65 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Renado Parker added 19 points and eight boards for NIC (24-4, 14-4 SWAC), which leads Eastern Utah by one game in the conference.

Dennis Mikelonis scored 18 of his 22 points in the first half for CSI (18-10, 10-8).

NIC's men and women play host to Eastern Utah on Thursday and Colorado Northwestern on Saturday to wrap up the regular season. NIC's men can win the league by beating CEU.

TWIN FALLS - The 17th-ranked Cardinals lost to the Golden Eagles for the second straight day, as CSI (20-8, 12-6 SWAC) outscored NIC (21-6, 12-6) 48-23 over the final 18 1/2 minutes.

Daidra Brown scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half for CSI.

Kama Griffitts scored 17 points for NIC, which led by eight points twice in the first half.

COEUR d'ALENE - Renae Kimbell hit a home run and Amanda Krier went 3 for 3 and drove in four runs in the second game for the Cardinals (16-8, 13-3 SWAC) at Memorial Field.

Jessica Ross drove in three runs in the opener for NIC, which travels to Southern Idaho this Friday and Saturday for a pair of doubleheaders.
