Cougs to play Boise State in 2016 and '17

PULLMAN - Washington State and Boise State will play a home-and-home football series beginning in 2016, it was announced by both schools Friday.

The first meeting of the two-game series is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2016 at Boise State and Sept. 9, 2017 at Martin Stadium in Pullman.

The Cougars hold a 4-0 series advantage over the Broncos, with all games coming during the 1997-2001 seasons. The last meeting resulted in a 41-20 victory by WSU on Sept. 8, 2001 at Boise.

State wrestling berths to be decided today

RATHDRUM - The 5A Region 1, 4A Region 1 and 3A District 1-2 wrestling tournaments will conclude today at Lakeland High.

Quarterfinals in the 4A tournament are scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by the semifinal matches in all three divisions.

The championship matches in all three divisions are scheduled for around 2:30 p.m.

The top three placers in 5A, the top two in 4A and top four in 3A will advance to state Feb. 26-27 at Holt Arena in Pocatello.

Coeur d'Alene and Lakeland are defending regional champs in 5A and 4A, repectively. Priest River has won the last three 3A district titles.

Spokane Golf Show set for this weekend

SPOKANE - The 12th annual Spokane Golf Show is scheduled for today from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center.

Admission is $10, with children 12 and under free. Tickets are available at all TicketsWest Outlets or the golf show Web site: www.SpokaneGolfShow.com

Every adult paid admission will receive three free rounds of golf (one from Dominion Meadows in Colville and one from Cascade in North Bend) from a variety of courses. There will be golf seminars, retailers, area and regional golf courses and new equipment all in one location.

The third free round will come from one of the following courses; Prairie Falls, StoneRidge, Priest Lake, Columbia Point, Kokanee Springs, Cristina Lake, Granite Pointe, Bryden Canyon, Castlegar, Fairways, Painted Hills or Wandermere.
