Chiefs win another in OT
SPOKANE - Kyle Beach poked in the winning goal in overtime and the Spokane Chiefs beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in Western Hockey League play Monday before 4,829 at the Arena.
It was Beach's second straight game with a game-winning overtime score.
"(Their goalie) thought he had the puck covered up, but I poked at it and either he knocked it in or the defenseman," said Beach. "I thought I may get called for a slashing there, but we got a break. We'll take it though."
Spokane is now 35-20-3-1 74 points, two back of third-place Everett and three behind second-place Portland.
Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored a goal in his fourth straight game for the Chiefs. Mitch Wahl assisted on all three Spokane goals.
"We really stuck with it tonight," Wahl said. "We were down going into the third but we just beared down and got the win. It's a big two points for us and bring us that much closer to Everett and Portland."
Spokane opens a three-game road trip at Kamloops on Wednesday.
