I-90 crash injures two drivers

POST FALLS - Two drivers were transported to the hospital after a crash on eastbound Interstate 90 on Sunday afternoon.

According to Idaho State Police, Darius S. Stahl, 73, Hanna, Alberta, was stopped in a 2007 GMC Yukon on the eastbound shoulder at milepost 8 at 3:37 p.m. He pulled out into traffic, attempting to turn around in the crossover for authorized vehicle.

William K. Taft, 53, Post Falls, was driving eastbound in the right lane in a 1997 Ford F250 pickup and swerved to avoid the Yukon by entering the left lane.

The F250 struck the Yukon in a T-bone crash and both vehicles came to rest in the median.

Stahl and Taft were transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Taft, who was treated and released, was wearing a seat belt. Stahl, who was in fair condition at KMC on Monday, was not wearing a seat belt.

Two passengers in the Yukon were not injured and not wearing their seat belts.

Alcohol was not a factor. It was raining at the time of the accident, but the roads were not slick.
