COEUR d'ALENE - Good vibrations, deep tissue massage, nail care and skin treatments are among the smorgasbord of services offered at Renew Mind & Body Spa, which is now open in the Peak Health & Wellness Center at 940 Ironwood Drive.

Psychiatrist Tim Stoddard, M.D., who for nearly seven years has operated the business on 15th Street, added the satellite location to expand services that meld with the physical fitness character of Peak.

"The core concept is !uc!2026 if somebody does take care of themself, it promotes momentum for them to take advantage of other health and wellness treatment," Stoddard said.

Renew has a separate entrance at the front of the building, plus access from inside. Between the Peak and Renew is a common area that will be used for workshops and other educational activities or meetings.

Renew offers an extensive range of health and beauty treatments, from facials and waxing to whole-body vibration and biofeedback. Starting this week, Botox treatments will be available.

Oriental medical claims meet Swedish massage and modern technology in the effort to provide stress relief and relaxation.

The warmth of a Satori infrared bed will improve blood flow, burn calories, cleanse the skin and remove toxins from the body with regular, repeated sessions, claims a flier on the product.

"Combined with massage it will reduce stress," Stoddard said.

A whole-body vibration treatment, with a platform delivering varying frequencies, will improve mood, balance and sleep patterns while reducing aches and pains and strengthening muscles, according to literature provided.

More stress and pain management is claimed to be offered through biofeedback training.

Renew is operated by Stoddard as the medical director and his wife Marcela as the business manager. Several of the providers are staff members, while others work on commission.

Permanent cosmetics, skin exfoliation, herbal wraps and detox foot bathing are among the plethora of services available, by appointment or on the spur of the moment.

"Walk-in is important here," Stoddard said, with clients able to avail themselves of Renew services on their way in or out of the fitness center.

A selection of skin and body care lotions and pain gels - along with candles and cleansing products and the Latisse eyelash lengthening and darkening system - are also offered at the spa.

"We are trying to promote wellness," Stoddard said.

Gary Retter, partner in Peak, said he believes Renew will be a complementary part of the center.

"We are becoming more of a health and wellness center," he said. "We work very well together."

Before leasing the space to Stoddard for the new venture, Peak owners visited the original facility.

"We all liked it," Retter said. "This puts so many more services under one roof. It is a great relationship."

Renew Mind & Body Spa is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
