Laurie Jeanne Willette, 52

| February 12, 2010 1:05 PM

Laurie Jeanne Willette, 52, went to meet the Lord on Feb. 4, 2010, at her home in Stites, Idaho.

She was born Oct. 22, 1957, to Ernest and Melanie Willette, in St. Paul, Minn.

At the age of 7, she moved with her family of six brothers and three sisters to Rathdrum, Idaho, to start a new life in the quiet rural Idaho countryside. Laurie lived in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for many years and had recently moved to Stites to be near her father and sisters.

Although she had struggled with health issues most of her adult life, it never detoured her from joining in on family fun where she brought with her a quick wit and a unique sense of humor that could always be counted on to make us laugh.

Laurie had a love of nature and especially enjoyed fishing and often would wander off by herself for hours, totally at peace.

She grew up in a musical family and carried her passion for singing into her adult life where she enjoyed singing karaoke.

She cherished the time spent with her siblings at family gatherings and was always a large part of those precious memories that were made.

She enjoyed cooking for others and always found pleasure in sharing that talent.

Laurie is survived by her parents, Ernest Willette and Melanie Thienes; her eldest daughter, Lisa Marie Willette and younger daughter, Shantell Bianca Willette; only granddaughter, Mia Wanita Willette; brothers, Allan, Greg, Brian, Danny, Jon, Randy, Michael and Joshua Willette; sisters Paula, Debbie, Gina, Michelle and Jennifer.

Laurie was our special gift from God and we are so thankful for the years that we were blessed to have known her as a daughter, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a very giving person and her kind and loving nature endeared her to all she met. She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the Real Life Ministries church, at 1866 N. Cecil Road in Post Falls, Idaho, with a reception dinner to follow.

Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia, Idaho, assisted the family.
