Kroc Center to present 'Sleeping Beauty'

| February 11, 2010 11:00 PM

A brand new version of "Sleeping Beauty" will premiere Feb. 26 at the S.A. Kroc Community Theater, 1765 W. Golf Course Road.

This specially written for Christian Youth Theater musical will open in San Diego, CYT headquarters and Coeur d'Alene on the same evening.

Seventy-seven local school children are in the cast as well as another 17 students on crew and over 70 volunteers.

All cast and crew are current students in CYT-North Idaho's winter session of theater arts classes. Spring session will begin on March 16.

Although much of the story is familiar, Paul Russell, writer and co-founder of CYT in San Diego 30 years ago, has added some unexpected twists.

While every little girl will enjoy seeing Princess Rose, "Sleeping Beauty," the boys will be equally impressed by the "fire-breathing" dragon and all of the magical tricks courtesy of 12 fairies.

"Sleeping Beauty" dates are Feb. 26, 27, March 4, 5, & 6 at 7 p.m.; Feb. 27, March 5 & 6 at 3 p.m.

Ticket prices for advance purchase tickets are $8 for children and $9 for adults. Tickets at the door will be $10 each.

All seats are reserved and can be purchased on line at: www.cytnorthidaho.com or (208) 277-5727.
