COEUR d'ALENE - A Liberty Lake teenager was beaten unconscious at a Coeur d'Alene party this weekend because the assailants reportedly didn't like the way the victim looked.

The 18-year-old male victim suffered a broken nose and two broken eye sockets as well as sustained fractures to his cheek bones and forehead outside the house party near Government Way and Garden Avenue early Saturday morning.

He was expected to undergo surgery on Monday, according to police reports.

According to the reports, the victim was a meeting a friend at the party when another man there went around the house pointing to people and declaring them "cool" or "not."

When he approached the victim, that male said that "there was something about him he didn't like," and when the victim tried to leave, he was pushed out the door by a female and then attacked by two men in the yard. The attack left him in and out of consciousness, reports said.

The victim told police he felt he could have been attacked because of the way he looked, which he described as having some of his brown hair bleached white, and piercings through his nose and lips and larger than normal piercings through his ears, according to police reports.

The police department said the suspects could face charges. The case is under investigation.
