NIC men stumble, but women triumph

| February 6, 2010 8:00 PM

PRICE, Utah - The fourth-ranked North Idaho Cardinals could not overcome a cold shooting night from the floor as they lost 76-66 to the College of Eastern Utah Golden Eagles in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game Saturday.

"We didn't play good enough to win," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "You've got to give Eastern Utah credit, their zone was really active and we couldn't hit enough shots to win the game."

Eastern Utah (16-8, 10-5 SWAC) outrebounded the Cardinals (21-3, 11-3) 42-27, leading to the Golden Eagles outscoring the Cardinals 19-4 on second-chance points.

"That's what they do," Phay said. "They had too many second-chance opportunites. We've got to keep our heads up. We're still in first place, but we've got to bounce back next weekend at Snow and Salt Lake."

Renado Parker had 18 points for the Cardinals, followed by Taylor Stevens with 13.

Michael Glover led four Golden Eagles in double figures with 16 points.

North Idaho faces Snow on Friday in Ephraim, Utah.
