High-speed chase ends at state line

Fourth suspect arrested after fleeing from scene

STATELINE - A high-speed chase along East Riverview Drive late Friday afternoon in the Post Falls area ended on the Idaho side of the state line.

Two females and a male were arrested soon after the chase. The male driver was arrested about three hours later after he fled on foot.

The small passenger car was stopped on a shoulder of Interstate 90 after it ran over spike strips set up by police.

The driver possibly swam across the Spokane River to try to escape. K-9 units from Post Falls and Spokane and Kootenai counties were called to the scene to track the suspect.

The names of the suspects and other information were unavailable at press time. The pursuit reportedly reach speeds of up to 100 mph.

The chase started around 4:36 p.m. about 7 miles south of Coeur d'Alene on U.S. 95 after the northbound driver failed to stop for speeding and reckless driving.

At least one of the passengers was transported to Kootenai Medical Center.

Traffic along I-90 was delayed during the search.
