Fromm's double-double lifts Cardinals

RANGELY, Colo. - Former Lake City High standout Nick Fromm, in his first college start, notched his first double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds as fourth-ranked North Idaho College beat Colorado Northwestern 73-59 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday night.
"He brought a lot of energy to us tonight," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "He played really really well tonight."
Renado Parker, who has been coming off the bench the past couple of games, added 14 points and five rebounds for NIC (21-2, 11-2 SWAC). Idell Bell had 11 points, Michael Hale eight assists for the Cardinals, who led 37-29 at halftime.
"Offensively it wasn't our best game, but we defended well, and that's what won it for us," Phay said.
Taylor Stevens, who recently signed with Seattle University, did not play because of an ankle injury.
Colorado Northwestern dipped to 1-21, 1-13.
NIC plays at Eastern Utah today in Price, Utah.

RANGELY, Colo. - Kama Griffitts scored 18 of her 21 points in the first half for the 17th-ranked Cardinals, who raced out to a 60-34 halftime lead.
Camille Reynolds added 15 points for NIC (19-3, 10-3). Amy Warbrick scored 14 points, Katie Sanders 12, Tugce Canitez 11. Amanda Carlton grabbed nine rebounds and Chantel Divilbiss had six assists.
"I thought we played pretty well, having not played for a couple of weeks," NIC coach Chris Carlson said.
Kiki Edwards-Teasley, who missed nearly two months with a stress fracture in her ankle, saw her first action since December on Friday night and logged six minutes.
Colorado Northwestern dropped to 2-18, 0-14.
