Western States acquires Harris Dean Insurance

Western States Insurance Agency has announced the acquisition of Harris Dean Insurance of Coeur d'Alene effective Dec. 31. The Coeur d'Alene office is the company's 30th location in the Northwest.

Western States Insurance is a Missoula-based company with more than 400 employees in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana offices. Western States Insurance Agency is a multi-line insurance agency that sells a full-line of personal, commercial, and health insurance products.

New funeral home opens in Post Falls

POST FALLS - Bell Tower Funeral Home and Crematory is now open in the Post Falls Business Park at 3398 E. Jen Alan east of the Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital on the north side of Interstate 90.

The 8,000-square-foot business, which offers a full line of funeral services and has an on-site crematory and chapel that seats 200, took four and a half months to construct.

"We're excited to be here, and the city's building and planning department was great to work with," co-owner Rob Clark said.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday. Information: 457-8880

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Jan. 13 from 5-8 p.m. Other open houses are Jan. 18 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hecla Mining announces stock conversion rate

Hecla Mining Company on Thursday announced its conversion rate for its 6.5 percent Mandatory Convertible Preferred Stock, which automatically converts into shares of Hecla's common stock on Jan. 1.

Under the terms of the Preferred Stock, the conversion rate will be 9.3773, which is the number of shares of common stock into which each share of Preferred Stock will convert.

No fractional shares of Hecla's common stock will be issued as a result of the conversion.

Holders of fractional shares will receive cash based upon the average closing price of Hecla's common stock over the five trading days preceding Dec. 31.

Hecla will issue about 19 million shares of common stock in connection with the mandatory conversion of the Preferred Stock on Jan. 1. After giving effect to this transaction, Hecla will have about 278 million shares of common stock outstanding.

North by Northwest CEO to speak

Rich Cowan, CEO of North by Northwest which has studios in Spokane and Boise, will be the guest speaker at the KNIFVES January General Meeting Thursday, Jan. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Street Davenport Hotel Peacock Room Lounge 10 S. Post in Spokane.

North by Northwest is a full-service feature film and High Definition production studio.

It is free for first-time visitors, $5 for return visitors.
