Three hurt in crash on I-90

COEUR d'ALENE - Three passengers were injured in a two-vehicle collision on snowy Interstate 90 Wednesday afternoon.

Idaho State Police reported that a Subaru Legacy driven by Shirley Moering, 60, of Coeur d'Alene, was struck from behind at 4:08 p.m. on eastbound I-90 at milepost 19.

Moering was slowing down for a one-vehicle accident ahead of her when she was rear-ended by a Dodge pickup truck driven by David Wilkins, 63, of Chubbuck, Idaho, police reported.

Three passengers in Moering's car - Greg Moering, 56, Greg Moering Jr., 24, and Talia Moering, 19, all of Coeur d'Alene - were taken to Kootenai Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

Both drivers were uninjured in the crash, which closed a lane of I-90 for 90 minutes, police reported. A citation was issued.

Dr. John Torquato is offering free flu shots this week at Minor Care Clinic, 265 W. Prairie Shopping Center in Hayden.

The practice has extra inventory and will be offering free shots from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office is closed New Year's Eve Friday and weekends, but if stock remains next week the office would be open its regular hours, including from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

First come, first serve, as appointments won't be accepted.

Lost skier found in good health

KELLOGG - A Cheney, Wash., man was found in good health almost six hours after he was reported missing following a day of skiing at Silver Mountain Ski Resort.

According to a press release from the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office, Frank Bender, 76, was located at 10:02 p.m. by searchers.

Tracks were discovered in the fresh snow, leading into the resort boundary. Bender was found about 100 yards downhill from the base of chair lift No. 1 by a Silver Mountain employee. Bender was then transported to his family at the Mountain House.

The search included Silver Mountain Ski Patrol, Silver Mountain Operations, U.S. Forest Service and Shoshone County Search and Rescue led by Shoshone County Sheriff's Office Deputy Dave Hayes
