John N. Hubof, 87

John N. Hubof passed away on Dec. 25, 2010, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Regent, N.D., on May 15, 1923.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Melvina; their son, Frank Hubof and longtime companion Kathy McIntire of Post Falls; their three daughters, Jo Ann Hubof of Coeur d'Alene, Diane Wimmer of Coeur d'Alene and Vicki Reel of Coeur d'Alene; four grandchildren, Lisa and husband Josh Willhite of Nampa, Christel Rosen of Post Falls, Rob and wife Lisa Hubof of Hayden Lake, and Nick and wife Amanda Hubof of Boise; one great-grandson John Michael Hubof of Nampa. Also survived by two brothers, Merle Hedge and Russell Hedge of Post Falls; and four sisters, Rose Rohr of Bismarck, N.D., Eleanor Meredith of Yucca Valley, Calif., Darlene Hedge of Post Falls and Mert Roske of Pasco, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Hubof of Post Falls and his sister, Agnes Smith, of Post Falls.

He enjoyed playing all kinds of cards with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was his garden.

He also enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his brother-in-law, Arvel Smith of Post Falls.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
