Chiefs blank Thunderbirds

KENT, Wash. - Spokane's James Reid stopped 29 shots as the Chiefs shutout the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-0 in front of 6,125 at the ShoWare Center on Tuesday night.

Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 19:12 mark in the first period. Steve Kuhn added a goal midway through the third period to round out the scoring for Spokane, which remains in second place in the U.S. Division, trailing division leading Portland by eight points.

Spokane (20-10-3-2) hosts Seattle tonight at 7 at the Spokane Arena.
