Paula Norrine (Hamby) Schaffer, 63

| December 28, 2010 4:27 AM

Paula Norrine (Hamby) Schaffer left this Earth on Dec. 26, 2010, from home. She's gone home to the Lord.

Paula was born Nov. 8, 1947, in Coeur d'Alene, to Alford and Minnie Hamby. Paula lived most of her life in the Coeur d'Alene area. She had a lot of friends, and maybe a few enemies, ha ha'. She loved to dance, and dress up in her Indian outfit every Fourth of July. Paula was proud of her Indian heritage: She was 1/32 Cherokee. Paula liked to hunt and go camping, she was an excellent gardener. She learned to crochet in 2004, and everyone she knew ended up with an afghan. Paula was into archery and had many trophies.

Paula loved her poodle, Pepe La Pue, he was her sidekick. Paula worked in this area all her life: She bartended and worked on CNC machines.

She is survived by her husband, William Schaffer; her son, Jeffery Myers; her granddaughter, Hayley Myers; her brother, and sister-in-law, Jim and Terry Hamby; brother-in-law James Bean; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, plus lots of cousins.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Minnie Hamby; her brother, Phillip Hamby; and her sister, Linda Bean.

Paula said, "Don't cry for me when I'm gone, I'll be too busy laughing to hear you."

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be accepted at the memorial service.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene.
