Mildred Marie Garwood, 90

Mildred Marie Garwood, 90, passed away Dec. 24, 2010, at Guardian Angel Homes in Post Falls.

She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in St. Cloud, Minn., to William and Laura Brandenburger.

Growing up in St. Cloud she met Merl W. Berg and they married Aug. 5, 1939. The two resided in Minnesota until 1947 when they moved to Coeur d'Alene.

They had five children: Jackie Sevy, Kellogg; Betty (Dennis) Rienbold, Plummer; Don (Lousia) Berg, Italy; Laura (Jim) Rice, Post Falls; and Marlene (Corey) Jones, Pahrump, Nev.

This marriage ended in divorce.

In April of 1968, she married Manley "Gar" Garwood. They moved to Wallace and later to Pinehurst. After Gar's death, Mildred moved to Post Falls. For the last five years she has resided at Guardian Angel Homes.

She is survived by her five children, 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Helen Bright and Grace Imholt, brothers George and Billie Brandenburger, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Mildred's family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Guardian Angel Homes (Craftsman). We would also like to extend a special thank-you to John and Chas for their love and kindness to our Mother.

Mother will be greatly missed but we are thankful for the memories we have of her.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, with inurnment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, also in Post Falls.
