Mary Jean Price, 86

Mary Jean Price, 86, was born Nov. 11, 1924, to Leslie H. and Mary (Sloan) Lee in Kellogg. She died Dec. 20, 2010, in St. Maries. She attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1942. She also attended Lewiston Sate Normal School for two years where she majored in education.

Her brother Bill, was serving in the Aleutian Islands with Alfred D. (Darrell) Price who he brought home to meet Mary Jean and on May 10, 1944, the two were married and she became a homemaker and stay-at-home mother of three boys. In 1955, she and Alfred moved to St. Maries where Alfred worked as a contract logger for Potlatch. Mary Jean was the bookkeeper for the business. During those years she was a kindergarten teacher and also taught Bible study classes at the Presbyterian Church in St. Maries and began working for Dr. William Latshaw.

In 1977, she and Alfred started an adventure in long haul trucking that lasted until 1984 when their truck was stolen. They decided to retire and moved to Lewiston the next year. Her husband died in 1999 and she moved to Coeur d'Alene in 2000. After living there for six years, she moved to Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries. She loved sewing, gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her three boys, Leslie Price and wife Claire of Rathdrum, Curtis Price of Athol and James Price and wife Susan of Coeur d'Alene.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Peggy Chetwood and husband Bill of Lewiston, Shirley Frank of King City, Ore., and Barbra Solt and her husband Dennis of Casa Grande, Ariz.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Fred, Bob, Bill and Don Lee as well as sister Vivian Pearsall.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
