Judy Dean, 65

| December 28, 2010 4:25 AM

Judith Anne "Judy" Dean passed away suddenly on Christmas Eve morning in her home in Coeur d'Alene. She was born Feb. 1, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Roberta Jean Covey and Roscoe R. Snider. She lived in New York, Hawaii and California before settling in Idaho in 1974.

Judy leaves behind her husband of 27 years, Spencer Dean; brothers, Matt Stewart of Temecula, Calif., and Chris Stewart of Coeur d'Alene; a sister, Katy Hipke of Boise; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Butch, who died in infancy; her daughter, Suzanne Podrabsky, who passed away earlier this year; and her mother, who passed away on Christmas Eve just two years ago.

A love of cooking and travel, an appetite for news and understanding of current events and a commitment to animals both wild and domestic were some of the things that marked Judy's life in Coeur d'Alene. Over the years she could have been found panning for gold in the Clearwater drainage, crabbing the Oregon Coast, or tasting the wines and cuisine of Italy. No matter where, Elvis music may have been playing in the background.

Her wishes were that no services be held. Yates Funeral Homes and Crematory was in care of her arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835.
