WREATHS: Help fulfill this project

| December 24, 2010 3:25 AM

I am writing on behalf of the Coeur d'Alene Civil Air Patrol. We recently finished the Wreaths Across America Project this year where we took wreaths purchased by the community and placed them on the graves of veterans. We were able to adorn the graves of 240 local veterans.

Although we set a higher goal for ourselves that we were not able to attain, this was our first year and we count this year's effort as a success. This year we had tremendous support from businesses, veterans groups and individual community members. It was great to see the community band together and show their support for veterans past, present and future.

Thank you very much for your support of our endeavor to remember those who have fallen, honor those who serve, and teach our children the value of freedom. We plan on continuing this project in the years to come and we hope next year to have an even greater number of wreaths to place on the graves. We would ultimately like to see the graves of all of the 2000-plus veterans in Coeur d' Alene have a wreath for the holidays.
