Man attempts suicide in store parking lot

POST FALLS - A local man was on life support at Kootenai Medical Center late Sunday afternoon after shooting himself with a handgun at Super 1 Foods, according to Post Falls police.

The apparent suicide attempt occurred about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the middle of the parking lot at 805 E. Polston Avenue, police said. The lot was full of shoppers at the time, police said.

No one else was injured.

The man's name and age were not available Sunday. The Post Falls Police Department is investigating.
