Baracco's basket lifts Vikings past Spartans

| December 18, 2010 8:00 PM

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. - Andrew Baracco scored on an assist from Jake Matheson in the final seconds, lifting the Coeur d'Alene Vikings to a 58-57 nonleague win over the Bainbridge Island Spartans on Friday.

"We had a good possession at the end of the game," Coeur d'Alene coach Kent Leiss said. "We ran the offense and Matheson hit Baracco on a backdoor cut."

Deon Watson scored 19 points for Coeur d'Alene (3-2), which travels to Mount Tahoma of Tacoma tonight at 6.

"It was a very good high school basketball game," Leiss said. "We still had some turnovers we need to fix. We didn't convert some offensive boards into points. We're not consistent enough yet to keep building on a lead."

Chris Bell had 28 points for Bainbridge Island.
