Hazel May Peterson, 86

Hazel May Peterson went to join his heavenly family on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010.

Hazel was born May 24, 1924, to August and Clara (Haakenson) Huseby in Williston, N.D. She was the fifth child of six. On Dec. 12, 1942, she married Oliver Peterson in Sidney, Mont. They moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1946 from North Dakota. Hazel worked as the Credit Manager at Sears in Coeur d'Alene for 20 years. She retired in 1984.

Hazel was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, crocheting, genealogy, visits with family and friends and being with her dog Willow.

She is survived by sons, Dean (Orlean) Peterson of Hayden Lake, Loren (Joyce) Peterson of Post Falls; daughter Ardis Meyer of Post Falls; Life Partner Tom Miller of Post Falls; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Deloris Huseby of Coeur d'Alene and Marie Cooper of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver; brothers, Freeman, Raymond and Kenny Huseby; sister Dora Tucker and Viola Johnson.

Viewing will be held from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Hemenway officiating. Burial will be at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens following the service. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.

Family suggests memorials to Christ the King Lutheran Church or Kootenai Humane Society.
