Local Vandal boosters to meet on Thursday

COEUR d'ALENE - The Kootenai County Vandal Boosters will meet on Thursday at the Shore Lounge at The Coeur d'Alene Resort beginning at 11 a.m.

Special guests for the meeting will be Senator John Goedde, Chairman of the Senate Education Committee and Representative Bob Nonini, Chairman of the House Education Committee.

Chiefs team with Rypien Foundation on outdoor game

SPOKANE - The Spokane Chiefs have announced that the Rypien Foundation has been named the official charity of the Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic. The Chiefs will be hosting the Kootenay Ice on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Avista Stadium in the Western Hockey League's first outdoor game.

As part of the event, the foundation will hold a silent auction during the game.

Harrell returns to Shock,

Brown reassigned

SPOKANE - The Spokane Shock announced that fullback Clay Harrell has been added to the 2011 roster and that Nekos Brown has been placed on reassignment.

Harrell, (6-foot 2, 310 pounds) is the 13th member of the ArenaBowl XXIII champions to re-sign with the team.

Last season, Harrell played in 14 games and recorded 56 rushing yards with five touchdowns.

Spokane travels to San Jose to open the 2011 season on March 11.
