Equipment causes outage

An equipment failure caused much of downtown Coeur d'Alene to go dark for a short time Friday evening.

Avista spokeswoman Debbie Simock said 572 customers were affected by the outage that stretched from Front Street to Midtown.

The blackout happened a few minutes after 5. Most power was restored in about 15 minutes, and all customers had electricity by 5:30.
