Chiefs win in shootout at Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Blake Gal scored in the third round of a shootout as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Vancouver Giants 3-2 in a shootout for their fourth straight win in a Western Hockey League action on Friday at the Pacific Coliseum.

Vancouver scored the first two goals of the night before Spokane rallied on a power play goal from former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson late in the first period.

Jared Cowen tied the game late in the second period on an assist from Brenden Kichton.

James Reid had 20 saves for Spokane (16-9-2-2, 36 points), which outshot Vancouver 45-22 on the night.

Spokane hosts Kamloops tonight at 7 p.m. at the Spokane Arena.
