Viola L. Mann

| December 7, 2010 11:27 AM

Viola L. Mann went to meet the lord on Dec. 1, 2010, following an extended illness. A born-again Christian, Viola was born on March 15, 1926, in Medina, N.D., to Edward Charles and Matilda Martel (Stolz).

She grew up on an old-fashioned farm, of which she had many fond memories. During her life she studied natural cures and had a vitamin or herb for everything. She taught school in Mandan, N.D., where she met her future husband, Ralph, her true love.

They moved to Billings, Mont., where she was employed as a nurse and they began their family. They moved to Rathdrum in 1963 where for a time she was employed by the Lakeland School District and local post office.

Viola was a member of the St. Stanislaus Church, Disabled American Veterans and VFW. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Her joys were her family, cooking, writing and painting.

Viola is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; brothers Harold and Elmer; sisters Alice, Helen, Bert and Florence.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Thayer of Post Falls; son James Mann of Rathdrum; grandchildren Jesse Thayer of Rathdrum, Levi Mann of Post Falls, Josh Mann of Phoenix, and Jaime Mann of Bend, Ore.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 Second St., Rathdrum, with a potluck to follow next door to the church.
