VIOLA - A 29-year-old Moscow man died Friday in a head-on vehicle collision with an Athol man on U.S. 95, a few miles north of Moscow, according to Idaho State Police.

Nathan N. Larson of Moscow was northbound at about 3:40 p.m. when his 1990 Toyota Tercel was struck head-on by a 2000 Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound, police said. The Tahoe, driven by 26-year-old Joel D. Holmes of Athol, had encountered black ice and crossed the road's center line.

Larson was killed in the crash, police said. Holmes was injured and transported to Gritman Memorial Hospital.

The Tahoe also carried four passengers, police said, all of whom were injured and taken to a hospital: Amanda R. Holmes, 29; Magdolna Holmes, 5; Jalena Holmes, 4; and Jackson Holmes, 3.

All people were wearing seat belts when the collision occurred, police said. Larson was using only the lap belt.

The investigation is ongoing.
