Kellogg wins Silver Valley tourney

KELLOGG - Tyler Morgan had 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Kellogg Wildcats defeated the Wallace Miners 50-34 to win the boys Silver Valley Tournament championship on Saturday at Andrews Gymnasium.

"We're improving, but we've still got a long ways to go," Kellogg coach Jeff Lambert said.

Eric Fields had 10 points, three steals and an assist for Kellogg (2-1), which travels to Chewelah on Tuesday.

Tony Branz and Brock Arthun had seven points apiece for Wallace (1-1), which hosts the North Star League tournament on Friday.

SPOKANE - Garrett Swanson scored 23 points to lead the Panthers past the Timberwolves in the Findlay Auto TipOff Classic at Lewis and Clark High.

"It was a good game throughout," Lake City coach Jim Winger said. "Mead played well and shot the ball really well. I thought we played hard and played well, but we've still got a ways to go. It was a good, solid effort for us."

Chris Wheelock scored 17 points, Mark Smyly 15 points and Scott Turner had eight rebounds for Lake City (2-1), which travels to Clarkston on Tuesday.

"I thought we played pretty hard," Timberlake coach Jim Simpson said. "We just had a couple droughts where we didn't score any points. I thought we were competitive tonight, but they're a big team. Pullman dominated the boards and got a lot of second chance points."

Cooper Simpson added 10 points for Timberlake (0-2), which travels to Newport on Monday.
