Vikings fall in Nike Northwest semifinals

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Jen Reese scored 18 points as the Clackamas Cavaliers defeated the Coeur d’Alene Vikings 48-40 in the semifinals of the Nike Northwest Invitational on Friday night at Southridge High.

Carli Rosenthal scored 16 points for Coeur d’Alene (3-1), which faces South Eugene (Ore.) today in the third-place game at 4:45 p.m.

COEUR d'ALENE - Alyssa Kacalek scored 18 points to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the University Titans of Spokane in a nonleague game.

"Both teams came out and pressured hard," Lake City coach Royce Johnston said. "It was a good win for us tonight against a quality team. We got a good lift tonight from Alyssa and Katie (Rowe) with them combining for 32 points. Katie came out and scored nine points in the fourth quarter to keep us going."

Rowe had 14 points and Jenna Lewis scored 11 points for Lake City (4-0), who travel to Clarkston on Tuesday.

Cassie Schilliam scored 22 points for University.

ST. MARIES — Tia Asbury scored 16 points to lead the Lumberjacks past the Maniacs in a nonleague game.

“We were able to get a lot of steals off the bat and played really aggressive defense on the night,” St. Maries coach Jay Sines said. “We passed the ball really well tonight, only turning the ball over six times.”

Hailey Hudson had 10 rebounds for St. Maries (1-2), which travels to Kootenai tonight.
