Thompson paces Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE - Senior Cassie Thompson scored 22 points to lead the Timberlake Tigers past the Lakeland Hawks 40-32 in a nonleague game on Thursday.

"It was a real physical game," Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. "We showed a lot of toughness towards the end of the game and were able to hold on and take care of the ball down the stretch."

Neena Buchmann scored 11 points for Lakeland (2-3), which travels to Cheney on Saturday.

Timberlake (3-1) hosts Pullman on Saturday.

POST FALLS - Some strong outside shooting and a commanding edge at the foul line helped the visiting Greater Spokane League school pull away from the Trojans in the second half.

Hattie Gennett went 4 for 6 from 3-point range and scored 15 points to lead University (1-0).

"We put them on the line way too much, and dug ourselves a big hole," Trojans coach Chris Johnson said.

The Trojans (2-2) host Shadle Park at 1 p.m. Saturday.
