GOP: Fear isn't ideal motivator

| August 29, 2010 10:00 PM

The Republican propaganda machine is in high gear. Hate, fear, division and grass roots racism are being spread in synchronized, unified harmony instigated with the help of Fox News and their bought and paid for affiliates.

Nothing new. This is what energizes a certain breed of voter to get up off the Lazy Boy, and go and vote. For many American voters, the idea of civic duty and political research is about as exciting as homework was back in school days. Many Americans prefer to complain in their La-Z-Boy rocker, and expound on their reasons for not voting. Or worse yet, they actually do vote because of some absolutely idiotic reason. You don't believe me? Go ask about 10 people why they voted for anybody and you will hear reasons that will make your ears get down on their knees and apologize to your brain.

We reap what we sow. Just look at most voter turnout statistics, and you will discover the true reason we are where we are at. Many People are lazy.

Yes sir. That is our dilemma. We have to accept most of the blame for voting incompetent politicians into an incredibly corrupt system that we refuse to fix. It truly is very simple: If your manager runs the company into the ground, you fire them. That is what we did with the Republicans.

But there is a huge factor here that we have overlooked. When you fire a manager in a company, THEY GO AWAY! They do not get to STAY and make sure that the new manager has no chance of improving things. This is what the new Republican Party has committed their entire existence to doing.

There is an old book called the "People Shapers" that was required reading in Social Science classes back in college. Basically it asked the profound question: Does the media report the news, or create it? That answer truly defines whether they are actually a credible News organization, or a special interest counterfeit engaging in the pre-meditated manipulation of the public. I would like to portray a small taste of two news organizations, and you decide.

There is MSNBC on site talking to everyday Americans suffering in this recession, and interviewing elected officials from both parties on solutions. On MSNBC, you will literally witness how the Republicans are behaving in the Senate doing nothing but obstructing and defying every single solution proposed.

Then there is FOX news spreading fear with threats of Communism, Socialism, Marxism, The Mexican invasion, stirring up old civil rights issues, Hitler, Nazis, Muslim takeovers and constant character assassinations. Nothing but negativity, fear, obstruction and hate. Their solutions are to look backward, instead of forward. Try that some time in a moving car while driving.

By the way, just where the heck was Arizona's Governor Jan Brewer and all the rest of the troublemaking opportunists during the eight years of GWB?
