COEUR d'ALENE - A 28-year-old Coeur d'Alene man was arrested Thursday for allegedly holding a 37-year-old female against her will.

Brian C. Kincaid was booked into Kootenai County jail for violating a no contact order and obstructing an officer. His bond was set at $3,000 on Friday.

The female, Rosella M. Schmidt, of Wallace, was also taken into custody for aiding a misdemeanor. She was given 40 hours of a sheriff's labor program on Friday, according to staff at the jail's booking department.

Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies arrested the pair around 9:30 p.m. after responding to the 10600 block of W. Rockford Bay Road shortly after 6 p.m. for a report of a possible hostage situation stemming from a domestic dispute.

Once on scene, patrol units attempted to establish contact with Kincaid by telephone, but Kincaid refused to come out of his residence or communicate with law enforcement, according to a sheriff's department press release.

After several attempts to communicate with Kincaid, a SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded, which made contact with Kincaid.

He was taken into custody without incident, and a weapon was not found at the scene.

Kincaid was arrested for violation of a No Contact Order that was issued after a domestic violence incident between him and Schmidt in January 2010.

An investigation is ongoing.
