Domestic situation ends without violence

| August 27, 2010 6:17 AM

On August 26, 2010 at approximately 1605 hours, units from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department responded to the 10600 block of W. Rockford Bay Rd. for a report of a possible hostage situation.

It had been reported that Rosella Michelle Schmidt of Wallace was possibly being held against her will by Brian C. Kincaid of Coeur d’ Alene, following a domestic dispute.

Once on scene, patrol units attempted to establish contact with Kincaid by telephone.  Kincaid refused to come out of his residence or communicate with law enforcement.  After several unsuccessful attempts to communicate with Kincaid, a parameter was set and the KCSD SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded.

Eventually HNT established communications with Kincaid.  At approximately 2130 hours, Kincaid exited his residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Kincaid was arrested for violation of a No Contact Order that was issued after a domestic violence incident between he and Schmidt in January of 2010.  Schmidt was arrested for charges stemming from this incident.  The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
