NIC hosting

conference in September

The North Idaho College Coaching Clinic and Leadership Conference will be held on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25 at Christianson Gym.

Speakers include: Don Verlin, University of Idaho men's basketball coach; Max Goode, Loyola Marymount men's basketball coach; Mike White, general manager at Parker Toyota; Kirk Earlywine, Eastern Washington men's basketball coach; Ryan Looney, Seattle Pacific University men's basketball coach; Matt Santangelo, co-founder of Summit Capital and Jerry Kraus, director of men's basketball operations for Gonzaga University.

The first day of the conference will be from 7 to 9 p.m., with registration beginning at 6:15 p.m. The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

to battle for Cup

The Eastern Washington University Eagles and Portland State University Vikings will begin a five-sport rivalry cup called the Dam Cup in 2010-11. The series will celebrate the friendly rivalry between the states of Oregon and Washington within the Big Sky Conference.

The five sports competing for the cup are: football, women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball.

Idaho opening

season at Invite

The Idaho volleyball team opens the season this weekend with three matches at the Nike Cougar Invitational in Pullman.

The Vandals will get things started on Friday against Weber State at 4:30 p.m. and will face UC Irvine at noon and host Washington State at 7 p.m. on Saturday. All matches will be played at Bohler Gym on the WSU campus.

The Eastern Washington Intramural Sports Program will be hosting the 16th annual EWU Fall Shootout 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Oct. 16 and 17 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
