MOSQUE: It's a community center

| August 26, 2010 7:16 PM

This is in response to several letters lately concerning that proposed community center in New York two and a half blocks from the site of the WTC in an old Burlington Coat Factory building that is privately owned.

I believe the whole issue is one that the Republicans, and FOX (FAUX) news, have fueled to generate another non-issue for hatred and bigotry. To fear what you don't understand. The truth is it's a Community Center that is designed after a YMCA with pool and racket ball courts for all peoples. There is already a Mosque a few blocks from ground zero. Also, there is a Muslim prayer center (Mosque) in the Pentagon a mere 80 feet from where the plane went in and where "W" proclaimed that Islam is a "Religion of Peace." People are more upset with the creation of a Community Center than they are with the absences of a permanent memorial to Sept. 11, 2001. Polls taken in New York show the average New Yorker doesn't care much one way or another. Except polls from FOX news.

Islam did not hijack those planes in 2001, but the hijackers happened to be Muslim. A terrorist isn't always a Moslem. McVey wasn't a Moslem - or was he.

Sixteen of the 19 known hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, where the royal family is friendly with the Bushes and where the finance came from. Why isn't the Right mad about that?

I would be against it if it was on the site of ground zero, but it's not.

We need to be smarter than the corporate media!
