TENNIS

McHugh wins: Caitlin McHugh of Post Falls won the 14-and-under singles title at the Spokane Club Challengers Tennis Championship on Aug. 21-22.

Playing in the USTA-sanctioned tournament in the Pacific Northwest Section, McHugh won her first match 6-0, 6-0, her second match 6-3, 6-0 and the final 6-0, 6-0.

SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting under-11 boys: The Sting competed at the recent Northwest Cup in Spokane Valley.

After a rocky start, losing 13-0 against CB United from the Tri-Cities, the Sting rallied to a 2-0 win over the Shadow (Densley), and a 3-3 draw vs. the Cobras (Speed).

In the first round of knockout play on Sunday, the Sting defeated the Shadow-Breakers 3-1 to advance, before falling to the Shadow-Storm in the third-place match.

RATHDRUM PARKS AND RECREATION

Fall sports signups: Registration for programs through the Rathdrum Parks and Recreation Department continues.

Fall sports being offered are soccer, volleyball and flag football, and two new activities - an arts and crafts class for kids ages 5-12 and an intro to dance class for kids ages 3 and up.

There are only two more weeks left of signups.
