Trojans rout Lewiston in 5A IEL opener

LEWISTON - Freshman Kenny Mueller scored four goals to move the Post Falls Trojans past the Lewiston Bengals 7-2 in a 5A Inland Empire League boys soccer match at Walker Field on Tuesday.

"I thought we played a good match," Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. "We followed our game plan and our kids battled for each possession. Everyone on the roster played today and got some good experience."

Matt Howard had two assists for Post Falls (1-0), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Monday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Freshman Luke Barrett scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Mason Sanchez in the 57th minute to move the Timberwolves past the Bears in a nonleague match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"For our first game, we played well," Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. "We had quite a few other chances we should have put away. Their keeper made some good saves, but we've got a better idea of how to play as a group."

Donald Osborne-Moss opened the scoring for Lake City (1-0), which travels to Sandpoint on Monday.
