FAIR: Board should have polled residents

| August 25, 2010 9:00 PM

Wham! The North Idaho Fair Board's decision came down on the community like a ton of bricks. Why was this decreed and instituted in such haste? Beer throughout the fairgrounds, extra charges and less seating in the grandstands? A "ballot" should have been given to the 2010 fairgoers to get the real pulse of the community, such as a $1 increase for all grandstand seating on a first come, first served basis and the beer issue.

Yes, the fair is a family event along with a lot of teenagers enjoying an evening. A real can of worms has been opened to allow beer to be purchased and carried throughout the fairgrounds. Maybe if I get there early with my grandkids and leave before noon, the taps wouldn't have flowed too much.

I'm afraid a lot of people don't need an excuse to drink to excess, and as far as policing goes - ha ha ha ha ha.
