Former Post Falls resident sentenced for sex abuse

COEUR d’ALENE — Jerry Lee Olin, a former Post Falls resident now living in Moscow, was sentenced Aug. 18 to 20 years in prison for three counts of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years old, the Kootenai County prosecutors office said Monday.

First District Judge Benjamin Simpson ordered the first 10 years to be fixed, with the remaining 10 indeterminate.

Olin, 39, admitted to the charged conduct, but blamed it in part on methamphetamine use. Simpson evaluated the conduct, a psychosexual evaluation and Olin’s’ criminal history when issuing the sentence, the office said.

Prosecuting Attorney Barry McHugh called the sentence “appropriate” based on the charge and Olin’s criminal history.
