More volunteers sought for CASA

The First Judicial CASA Program is in need of additional volunteers to advocate in court for children who have been removed from their homes due to parental neglect and/or abuse, resulting in their necessary placement into foster care.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to recommend the best possible outcome for an abused or neglected child's future.

Some of the responsibilities of the advocate are to review records, research information and talk to everyone involved.

Volunteers then present their recommendation to the court as to what they feel is best for the child.

A training session begins. Sept. 9.
