The beam is touring the country as it's being transported by semi from New York City to Silverdale, Wash. where it will be part of the Kitsap Sept. 11 Memorial. The beam will also be shown at Lone Wolf Harley-Davidson on Appleway in Coeur d'Alene on today and at the Hot Rod Cafe in Post Falls along Interstate-90 on Saturday. Both viewings are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Patriot Guard will escort the beam from the scales at the state line to its final resting place in Kitsap County on Sunday starting at about 6:45 a.m.</p>

<p>JEROME A. POLLOS/Press Michael Hanes, manager of the Kootenai Cafe in downtown Coeur d'Alene, talks with customers after opening Wednesday. The restaurant, located at 206 North Fourth Street, will be open from 5 a.m. until mid-afternoon. Hanes also owned 4th St. Pantry at the same location which was open 24-hours a day.</p>
