Resort Course, Circling Raven earn honors

The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course has been named the top course in Idaho and one of America’s best courses by Golf Magazine.

In the publication’s September 2010 issue, a story called “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” ranks the floating green course as Idaho’s best, followed by Circling Raven, Sun Valley, and Whitetail and Jug Mountain Ranch in McCall.

“Getting to a great course doesn’t mean you have to remove your shoes for an awkward dance through airport security,” the story said. “Here are some of the best courses you can play right in your own backyard.”

The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, along with Circling Raven, also made the top 100 Finest Public Access Golf Courses in America. The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, a Scott Miller design built in 1991, came in at number 81. Circling Raven, a Gene Bates design built in 2003, ranked at number 92.

SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs will play the Kootenai Ice on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Avista Stadium in the first outdoor game in Western Hockey League history, dubbed the Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic.

“Since the NHL outdoor game in Buffalo 2008 I have wanted the Spokane Chiefs to play in one,” Chiefs president Bobby Brett said. “I think it will be an unbelievable event for our players and fans.”
